Barbados authorities have called off the search for a Montclair, New Jersey, couple that went missing in island of Barbados just one week ago, however, the family members are still holding on to hope that their love ones will found or they will find answers.
The couple was last seen on June 24 at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon, when they rented a jet ski. Oscar Suarez, age 32 and Magdalena Devil, age 25, went out to sea and unfortunately have not been seen since that date, according to the local police.
Suarez’s cousin, Reynaldo Huaman, stated that the family is “extremely sad” that the search has been called off but they’re appreciative of the efforts from everyone involved.
Huaman continued saying, “the family’s obviously still holding out the hope that we find some clues, some lead that gives us some sense of where they could have gone, anything that may tell us anything about their whereabouts.”
According to Huaman, the couple has been together for approximately one year and that Suarez has two children and lived in Montclair most of his life. A GoFundMe page, along with other fundraisers, including a T-shirt sale, were all started to help the family or the investigation as much as possible.
