1. Hermès Birkin Bag

Named after the British actress and singer, Jane Birkin, the fashionable bag has been considered a status symbol among the rich and the famous for years. In 1983, when the actress was traveling on a flight from Paris, France, to London, England, she was seated beside Hermès Chief Executive Jean-Louis Dumas. When she put her straw bag in the overhead compartment, the contents inside accidentally fell on the floor. She complained to Dumas on how hard it is to get a good leather weekend bag. Using a two-year old design, he created a black supple bag in 1984, naming it the Birkin bag.
